My engagement ring is a black diamond ring. It's a simple silver band with a little black stone. I didn't even know black diamonds were a thing that existed before I received it, but now I find them totally charming, so nice work, Matt! Wedding plans are slowly formulating, so I'm starting to think about wedding bands and what I would want that would complement this ring. A few ideas: Something like this makes the most sense. It would match nicely with my current ring, is affordable, unfussy, but has a little more pizazz than a plain band.
I like the style of the above two, with the stones set directly into the band. They're also simple, very wearable, and even though my engagement ring is silver, I kind of like the idea of mixing metals with the gold band.
Speaking of mixed metals, I've lusted after this Mociun black diamond ring for a long time. But I don't know if I'd feel comfortable wearing a $3,000 ring. Especially considering I lost my engagement ring four days after receiving it (Matt found it two weeks later! In the street! Under the snow!).
And just for fun, here are some more black diamond rings, found on Etsy:

But where's the pic of your ring?! :)
These are all great (I love the first two) and I know you'll find something perfect for you, but I just wanted to put out the idea (to everyone) that, despite convention, an engagement ring does not have to stay on your left ring finger once you get married.
My engagement ring is square shaped and any wedding band would have had to have been cut to fit into it (otherwise it would have looked weird and been uncomfortable). I also wanted my band to be almost identical to Alex's - same material and design. I like the idea of wearing a fairly simple wedding band that matches my husband's. My solution was to move my engagement ring to the middle finger of my right hand (it looks and fits better on my middle finger, otherwise it would have been my right ring finger) and look for bands that both Alex and I liked. We decided on white gold concave bands, with his being double the width of mine. The day we got married, I moved the engagement ring to my other hand.
I love my engagement ring and put it every day (unless I'm cleaning the house or going to the gym, etc.), but I essentially never take off my wedding band. To me, the engagement ring is a beautiful and romantic gift from my partner, but the bands are the symbol of our commitment and love. (I also bought Alex an engagement ring, but that's another story.)
Just my thoughts on the topic. :)

Oh, I like the simple elegance of all of these. My favorite is the second band with diamonds set into the stone. I've thought about mixing metals too and haven't quite decided where I'll fall on that.

Wow, it's small and simple, yet it flows with elegance, due to the clean look of the ring itself and the black diamond as the centerpiece. I remembered how my boyfriend (now my husband for many years now) bought me a beautiful diamond ring from one of the jewelry stores in Indianapolis as a proposal gift, when I agreed to marry him, all my friends popped out to congratulate both of us.

I love the heart shaped-stone ring! It's simple, but very stylish. Seriously? O.o You lost your ring? Lucky for you to have a fiancé like him 'because it seems he has some kind of special vision to find a ring in the snow. LOL. Keep us updated with your preparation. I would love to read them! :)

Great post! I love this new trend happening right now-wearing several smaller rings to create a larger ring. I think it's so nice that you can personalize the ring exactly how you want it (it is your wedding ring after all), why would you want to wear a general pre-designed ring for the rest of your life? Customizing it makes it very special and clearly fits to your own taste. Love the Mociun black diamond ring-too bad it's so expensive!!

Black diamonds, that's original, but it doesn't look like a diamond, diamond should be white and brilliant
