The color of design, part 2

Yay, there's a black woman on the cover of Domino.
Boo, she's an actress.

See my earlier post on this subject to hear more about why this bothers me. Instead of belaboring the point, maybe we can start a list here of inspiring design professionals we'd want to see on the cover of a future Domino. I'll start...

Sheila Sheila Bridges. Interior Designer. She's been featured in the mag but never on the cover. I'd love to see her bald head staring back at me from the newsstand!

Golden-Thelma Thelma Golden. Director of the Studio Museum in Harlem. Yes, she's in the art field but she's married to fashion designer Duru Olowu (I seem to remember his work being featured inside the magazine a while back) and between the two of them you know they have an amazing home.

Sharne Sharne Algotsson. The first black designer for IKEA (don't quote me on that). Owner of Philly home-goods store Twist. Author of several books on Swedish/African style.

Other suggestions?

Comments

I don't have any suggestions, sorry. But i do remember reading your earlier post about those Domino covers. I love Domino magazine, have a subscribtion, but never really thought about the people on the cover before your post. After that, every month i'm wondering if there would be a black person on the cover.
Hope they come across this post of yours, who knows, maybe a little help is all they needed?

I love Sharne Algotsson's work! People say we're over the race issue, but we're not. I would like to see any of these three ladies on Domino's cover!

FYI, I think Sheila Bridges was in the design (style?) section of the NYT time, a gift guide by designers for people that are really hard to shop for.
