My birthday was Friday and Matt surprised me with a pile of presents.
The best part was that even though I have tons of paper laying around the house, he went to Greenward to buy two sheets to wrap my gifts. :)
Instead of a birthday cake, we shared a cream puff from the Japanese bakery. Flaky crust, red bean paste, whipped cream and powdered sugar. It's reallly good.
On Saturday we woke up bright and early to take the train up to Portland Maine for a day trip.
We accidentally stumbled upon the Angela Adams store.
Great old houses along the waterfront.
I bought this great scarf by Epice from Black Parrott, a new boutique that had only been open for a few weeks and had the most amazing retail space I've ever seen.

Thanks for those of you weighing in with your opinions on the post below. It seems to have struck a chord and I'm glad because I think about these types of things often.

oh the bean pastries...so yummy. Sadly, the last time i got my hands on one was about 2 years ago!! But I cannot forget how delicious they are :) Happy birthday!

Looks like you had a great trip! I love that scarf and that "house" is CRAZZZZZY! I wish we could get out of our town for a little while. I feel like I need a getaway. Next month I guess.

I love the wrapping paper. I'm always looking for mod paper around here but to no avail. Same with fabric. I'm always left searching through 90s floral pattern when making dresses for my daughter and wrapping her friend's birthday presents in dora the explorer paper.
