On organization and Domino

Dominomay_2 Spent a good chunk of time this morning putting all of my blogs in Google Reader. I'm hoping this will streamline my blog reading since I'll be able to view them all in one place and see what's been updated or not at a glance. Also Google Reader doesn't show comments, which is good for me because reading the comments is usually my biggest time drain. I'm organizing my virtual world and hoping that soon my real world will follow suit. In anticipation of our move later this summer, I'm planning to go through and do a major purge of stuff in the apartment.

Speaking of blogs, one of my new regular blog reads is Wiksten. Jenny recently announced that she's going to be in an upcoming Domino. I'm thrilled that Domino is reaching out to the craft/handmade community because they've been getting a little too expensive and out of reach for my taste. When Domino started, they presented themselves as a more accesible version of upscale decor mags so I was slightly dismayed to see a celebrity on the cover again this month (Julieanne Moore, last month was Drew Barrymore). But I have to admit, the Julianne Moore story was probably my fave in the magazine and, oddly enough, the most accessible because she used lots of IKEA, DIY and thrift store solutions. Love the color combo on the cover: sky blue + butter yellow + chocolate. I actually usually really love the color combos they use on their covers. If I didn't already subscribe, this would be enough for me to buy it off the newsstand.

I'm totally with you about Domino becoming "big time". I thought it was supposed to be more down to earth...but I do have to admit I liked the "real" side of Drew Barrymore when she was featured. Buuuut! I wish they'd remember that us "normal" people are reading it.

i agree with you on the Domino being out of reach for the average person... and i too am drawn to the covers, just for the colors!! i like reading your blog, keep it up!

I totally agree with you on Domino, I feel that it has changed so much from when it first came out. I'm still a fan but am wishfully thinking they might revert back to their old style! I loved the article about Julianne Moore, I was so surprised by the fact that she shops at places like Ikea and Pottery Barn

I'm thinking that the fact that they reached out to Wiksten is an indication that they're returning to featuring more "normal" people. I'm excited to see the results.

I read Wiksten too and am so excited to see her article in Domino. I totally feel the same way about it...

i started using google reader about a month ago and it has changed my life. i love it...it has saved me loads of time now that i don't have to go from blog to blog.

question -- the paper you did for black pearl press -- is that exclusive to them or will you be selling it? love the white on the dark colors and that pattern.

Hi Suann,
These papers are only available through Black Pearl Press. You can contact Elisabeth via her website to see if she's selling them by the sheet.

Google Reader transformed my blog reading. I had tried blog lines but couldn't really figure it out. Given that I already use gmail, using reader was super easy.
