Here's an informative article from Niche magazine, another craft magazine I discovered when exploring Crafts Report earlier this week.
This one deals with the pricing of crafts for galleries. Some of the higlights, for me:
- When thinking of how to price an item, instead of looking at the cost of materials and going from there, look at how similar crafts are priced, and then work backwards.
- Newbies are eager to underprice their work in order to stimulate sales. This can backfire, as some customers will assume something is of low quality if it is priced too low.
- If you are selling your handmade items in numerous places - at brick and mortar stores and online - make sure to keep pricing consistent.
